Reverend Quentisha Davis Wiles is a liberation theologian who believes the Word of God is a living Word and brings freedom & liberty when proclaimed, ingested, and applied to one’s life. She examines sacred text from a womanist context, which provides additional lens and perspective to the living gospel.
Pastor Q, as she is affectionately called, has over 25 years in ministry and nine years in parish ministry. God continues to use Pastor Quentisha in a variety of contexts, planting seeds of life and coaching God’s people to wellness in and out of the local church.

Days for Girls Workshop – August 21, 2023 at Wesley UWF, 10:00-4:00
UWF members interested in learning how to assemble and sew washable menstrual pads for women and girls in Nepal are invited to participate in a hands-on workshop with Katherine Parker, a missionary with the UMC General Board of Ministries, working with community development in Nepal. Katherine’s area of service (and passion) is with:
Adolescent empowerment, including sexual reproductive health/rights, mental health, & menstrual hygiene; Dignity for migrant workers; and Water, sanitation and hygiene.

The richness of our culture in part is that it is made up of so many different kinds of people, most of whom we know. However, there is a small group of women who aren’t names, known, or recognized. These are “Medial Women,” women who struggle to bring forth who they are and the gifts they can offer because they aren’t honored or understood. You may be one of these women, or you may know and love one but have been puzzled about who she is. This book may offer you an “ah ha!” Or it may bring a tear as you realize that you are not alone.”

Christmas Program and General Meeting – December 1st, 2022

Chrismons, meaning “Christ monograms,” traditionally are white and gold designs made from Christian symbols that signify Christ. Often displayed on an evergreen tree during the Christmas season, symbols such as stars, crosses, fish, crowns, and the alpha and omega remind us of Christ’s identity, his story, and of the Holy Trinity. Chrismons symbols were first introduced in 1957.
Please join us! We will learn about the origin of the Chrismon tree and the meaning of some of the Chrismons. We will then have the opportunity to decorate the tree in the Narthex and turn it into a Chrismon tree using our Chrismons!

that day in the church parking lot from noon-3pm.
Orders will also be available for pick up Saturday Nov 19th from 10am-noon. If you will not pick up Friday Nov 18th, please let Melinda know (melinda.knepp @ gmail.com) as these are frozen items and we will need to make sure that we have freezer space for them.

The UWF Fundraiser has started! This year, we are selling seven different, yummy Butter Braid pastries (incl one savory): Strawberry Cream Cheese, Apple, Cinnamon, Raspberry, Cream Cheese, Bavarian Creme, and Four Cheese & Herb.
Just thaw, rise, & bake and you have a delicious appetizer
or a treat for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.
Six different flavors of Wooden Spoon cookie dough will also be available: Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter, Macadamia Nut, Confetti, Triple Chocolate, and Snickerdoodle.
All goodies are frozen so you can cook them when you want them.

Reflection and Meditation for the Day – James 2: 14-17
What good is it, my brothers, and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
This year’s celebration will be graced by the Western Jurisdiction President of the United Women in Faith, Bonita Jane Miller. Originally from the East Bay Area of California, Bonita moved to Alaska in 1978. She and husband Fred have three daughters and five grandchildren, with one more on the way. Traveling with or to visit them is a favorite pursuit! Bonnie is also a labradoodle mom to three sweet dogs.

Keynote Speaker: Reverend Susan Smith, pastor of Children and Family Ministries at Willow Glen UMC and Director of Woodhaven Preschool.
Lunch: A catered or boxed lunch will be available for those attending in person.

Offering: You may make a donation to Mary Elizabeth Inn and/or Gum Moon Women’s Residence, which are national projects for the United Women in Faith, located in the Bay Area. Thursday, December 3rd, the Campbell UMW will have our Executive Board Meeting and General Meeting via Zoom. Everyone is invited to attend both meetings. The Executive Board Meeting will begin at 9:30am, followed by the General Meeting, Gifts of Christmas, Covid Style, at 10am.
Bring something yummy to drink and eat (hot chocolate and cookies are always good) and something to help you relax like a candle or aromatic. We will sing Christmas carols and share the gifts of Christmas.

CANCELLED: El Camino Real District UMW Spiritual Retreat
Due to the current unusually high health concerns, the Spiritual Retreat, scheduled for March 13-15, must be cancelled for this year.
The retreat center has been required by their county Health Services Agency to not have any public gatherings for the next week or so.
Your registration fees will be refunded.
We hope that next year, we will be in a better situation, and that we can again offer you a spiritually uplifting and renewing retreat experience.

Following the keynote, breakout groups will be offered to prepare women for leadership roles in UMW, and to explore what UMW is all about. The following breakout groups will be offered: President; Secretary/Communications; Treasurer; UMW in Mission/Social Action; Program Planning; Teaming Up to Grow UMW; and Knowing God.

Over the last 27 years Family Giving Tree has served more than 1,400,000 children and individuals throughout the greater Bay Area and actively endeavor to inspire the values of kindness, philanthropy and volunteerism in our community. The Family Giving Tree is one of very few non-profits in the San Francisco Bay Area to receive Charity Navigator‘s 4-star rating.

Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of UMW
After General Conference 2019, The United Methodist Church faces changes and unknowns. What is known, however, is that United Methodist Women and its members will continue to stand together, committed to serving women, children and youth. For us, commitment to the Purpose and prayer are the only litmus tests for determining who can belong. The United Methodist Women celebrate our 150th anniversary this year. We have persisted through change before. We could not have been organized for mission for this long if we let our differences divide us. You’ve been praying. You are praying. Keep praying. And be sure to celebrate our 150th anniversary on March 23.
March 23, 2019, is a very special day for United Methodist Women members. It is the day our organization will officially be 150 years old—a true day of celebration! It’s also a special Day of Giving during which members and supporters can give to the Legacy Fund Endowment Campaign to ensure our next 150 years in mission.
At Campbell UMC, we had a special service on Sunday, March 24th, with Campbell UMW members participating in worship.

El Camino Real District UMW Annual Celebration

Continuing this year’s theme of “The Power of Bold,” our District UMW Annual Celebration is focused on “Justice With Compassion.”
We will lift up the mission, ministry, and spiritual growth of units and groups within the District during the past year. Featured speaker: Lindsey Kerr, Pastor of Christ Church United Methodist of Santa Rosa, CA, and Associate Pastor of Santa Rosa UMC. Lindsey is passionate about the church’s role in working for justice and social change, and seeks to live as a disciple of the radical and compassionate Jesus Christ.
When we gather to celebrate and worship, our music will be led by Jo Neish in her vibrant and enthusiastic style.
Workshops: In addition to gathering in celebration of the year, we will have the choice of 3 workshops.

Event details: Check-in opens at 8:30am, and we will begin gathering in the Sanctuary at 9:15am. The event will run from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Lunch is included, with a vegetarian option. Child care is available, upon request when registering.

Conference UMW Annual Celebration – Legacy: Harvesting with the Holy Spirit
The UMW California-Nevada Annual Conference Celebration will be held on October 20th, 2018, from 8:45am to 3:30pm here at Campbell UMC. (Registration and check-in will be from 8:00-8:45am. Child care available upon request when registering.)
This year, we are fortunate to host the CA/NV Conference UMW Annual Celebration in our own District! Please join us to hear guest speaker Shannon Priddy, the National UMW President. Ms. Priddy is one of the youngest members to serve in her role, and actively encourages younger women to get involved through conferences and mentorships by longtime members. She says, “(UMW) is for all women, of all ages, who want to put their passion to work, from social justice to advocating for others.”

2016 California-Nevada Conference UMW Annual Celebration
Saturday, October 15, 2016 – “Legacy: Nurturing Growth for Christ.” 
The Celebration will be 8:45am-3:30pm, at First United Methodist Church, Santa Rosa, 1551 Montgomery Drive, Santa Rosa, CA.

Our special guest speaker is Rev. Cynthia Statement of Hanford First UMC. Her career path toward becoming a pastor has had many turns, and has brought her many adventures which she will share with us.
In addition to the Celebration service, there will be four workshops, plus opportunities to purchase program resources. There will also be a Mission Market and a Legacy Silent Auction.

Summer Potluck Lunch

The UMW will be collecting layette items the second Sunday of the summer months (July 10, Aug 14).

What shall I expect?
At Mission U we “learn together for the transformation of the world.” The studies give particular attention to the fulfillment of women through mission work of the church. Events also include worship, singing, and building of unity in friendship. (Lots of “hoopla” too! 🙂 )
Mission U is open to members and non-members of United Methodist Women. Over 25,000 men and women in the U.S. attend Mission U events each year in every United Methodist Conference.
The weekend event offers an in-depth study, while 1-day events give overviews of most studies.

Campbell UMW Supports Anti-Sex Trafficking Work
How can you make a difference for commercially sexually exploited children and adult human sex trafficking victims? Get in the game and help us reach the goal line: 250 backpacks full of clothing and other helpful items by Super Bowl Sunday. In the coming weeks Grateful Garment Project is asking the public to take part in their Pack-It-Forward program, which will put full backpacks into the hands of rescued victims.

Everyone attending enjoyed a lovely afternoon of tea, treats, and wonderful conversation with the ladies from the various UMW Circles.
Lisa Blanchard, Founder and Executive Director of the Grateful Garment Project was the featured speaker. Over $400 in proceeds from charitable donation drawings (gift baskets) went to benefit this most worthwhile and unique non-profit organization.
