United Women in Faith (UWF)

Faith ~ Hope ~ Love – in Action
We are women with a Purpose!
(find events below)

United Women in Faith/UWF (prev. United Methodist Women/UMW) is a community of women of all ages.
We seek to connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship and education so that we can inspire, influence and impact local and global communities.
We gather to support one another’s spiritual lives, for creative supportive fellowship, and to encourage one another to self-giving service in the community and the world. We are a powerful, fearless force driven by God’s love and united in sisterhood. With a focus on women, children and youth, we act for justice and transform communities.

Bold action, like faith, takes courage. Our bravery is inspired by God’s love and our powerful commitment to improve the lives of women, children, and youth. United Women in Faith works for justice through compassionate service and advocacy to change unfair policies and systems that harm women, children, and youth—from racial and gender injustice to economic inequality, climate issues, and more.

Campbell UWF General Meetings (for all Circle members) are held twice a year:
the First Thursday of May and the First Thursday of December in the Fireside Room.
These meetings are followed by refreshments and a program.
The Campbell UWF is part of the CA-NV Conference UWF and the El Camino Real District UWF.

The Campbell UWF Executive Board meets monthly.
Write the Secretary at uwf @ campbellunited.org for the minutes or more about events and activities.

UWF groups at Campbell UMC meet in “Circles” at different times and places.
Circles meet the second week of each month, from September through June.

This event spotlights the experiences of our panelists and their struggles to find affordable, stable housing. Not only will we hear about their struggles, but we will also learn from them what would have been helpful to them as they looked for affordable housing.

After learning from our panelists, there will be a brief presentation about how the City of San Jose is working to reduce the severity of the housing crisis, followed by a presentation by a member of St. Paul’s addressing their efforts to build affordable housing. Do you know about the UWF Reading Program?

Reading Program

Reading Program book lists (catalogs) are available online. Books from the current list, as well as 5 previous years (that qualify for this year’s program) can be viewed and/or purchased from United Women in Faith Mission Resources or from your favorite bookseller.

Most of the books are available as e-books (for Kindle), some are available in braille and audio, and many can be found in your local library.

For over 150 years, United Methodist Women have been involved in mission that includes prayer, study and action, and the United Women in Faith continue that tradition. The Reading Program is a study opportunity, but it should also lead to action. The purpose of the program is to encourage United Women of Faith members to:

  • Expand understanding of and participation in God’s mission.
  • Increase sensitivity to all human beings—their needs, interests and concerns.
  • Encourage critical thinking about issues facing humanity today.
  • Grow in understanding of Scripture as it relates to Christian faith in contemporary life.
  • Enhance self-knowledge and act from that knowledge.
  • Strengthen involvement in local and global Christian mission.
